It is a great privilege for North South University students to have Dr. Md. Taufiqul Islam (Mithil) as the Director of the Career and Placement Center (CPC). He holds an exceptional academic background: bachelor's and master's degrees from Jahangirnagar University, a second master’s from Shimane University, Japan (2002) under a Japanese government scholarship, and a Ph.D. from Tottori University, Japan (2005). He further enriched his expertise through a postdoctoral fellowship at Kobe Gakuin University (2006–07) and a JSPS fellowship at Kyoto University (2007–09). In 2011, he was also selected as a U.S. Department of State Fellow. Dr. Taufiqul brings over 16 years of experience in teaching, leadership, and institutional development.
Beyond CPC, Dr. Md. Taufiqul Islam holds significant leadership roles, serving as President of the Private University Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh, President of the Governing Body of Habibullah Bahar University College, and a member of the PKSF Governing Body. A dedicated academic, he has published in esteemed journals and has served as Cultural Secretary of the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) since 2022. Dr. Taufiqul is the founding member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Brahmanbaria and the founder of ADARE ALO, a non-profit organization based in Brahmanbaria. He is also a life member of the JSPS Alumni Association in Bangladesh.
Under his guidance, CPC plays a critical role in student advancement – facilitating internships, job placements, career fairs, and training workshops. Dr. Islam firmly believes that overseas degrees, research, and intercultural communication experiences are essential elements for success in both Bangladeshi and international communities. With his global exposure, strategic insight, and diverse experience, Dr. Md. Taufiqul Islam is helping NSU students build purposeful, skill-driven careers in an increasingly competitive world.
